13 Horror Films to Watch

Hey everyone, it’s your girl Sara-No-H from U92. If you’re like me, you LOVE Halloween time. Mostly because you can binge watch all the amazing horror films without being judged. So if you’re into the blood, guts, creepiness, and scares then you’re going to love this list. I’ve put this list of 13 movies to watch on the 13 Nights before Halloween. Some are new and some are classics, but all still really great! Just be warned though, these movies are not for the faint of heart. Also know, you don’t need to watch these in any particular order. So make some fresh popcorn, grab your favorite blanket, and get comfortable!

  1. The Exorcist (1973)

This movie is about a young girl that is possessed by an entity and her mother seeks the help of 2 priests to save her. This movie is not only one of the scariest movies out there, it still freaks people out to this day. I can’t even image how I would have reacted if I saw it in theaters when it was first released.

  1. The Shining (1980)

A family heads to an isolated hotel for the winter where an evil and spiritual presence influences the father into violence, while his psychic son sees horrific forebodings from the past and of the future. Based off the Steven King novel.

  1. The Conjuring (2013)

Paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren work to help a family terrorized by a dark presence in their farmhouse. This is definitely one of the best made scary movies you’ll see. It’ll also make you think twice about where you are living.

  1. The Silence of the Lambs (1991)

If you want to know how a serial killer thinks, well this movie will trip you out. It’s about a young F.B.I. cadet must confide in an incarcerated and manipulative killer to receive his help on catching another serial killer who skins his victims.

  1. The Thing (1982)

If you’re afraid of being stuck in a secluded area this movie might trigger all of your fears. The think is about scientists in the Antarctic are confronted by a shape-shifting alien that assumes the appearance of the people that it kills.

  1. 28 Days Later (2002)

Four weeks after a mysterious and incurable virus spreads throughout the UK, some few survivors try to find a place to live and be safe. So if you’re into zombies and isolation movies, this is one for you. All I can say is I don’t think I’d handle waking up to a complete ghost town and thinking I’m all alone.

  1. The Descent (2005)

If you’ve ever had a fear of all the horrors nature can bring, you definitely won’t like this movie. BUT, for those of you that love to explore, this movie will most likely change your mind on participating in any of your outdoor activities. The Descent is about a caving expedition between 6 friends that goes horribly wrong, as the explorers become trapped and ultimately pursued by a strange breed of predators. Make sure you use the restroom before you start this movie.

  1. Halloween (1978)

One of the most absolute classics in slasher films. Halloween is a must see! Michael Myers has escaped and returned from a mental hospital after 15 years prior to stabbing his sister to death. Sending him on a slasher rage.

  1. Psycho (1960)

Psycho is the original to any Bate’s Motel show you have ever seen. It’s about a secretary that ends up stealing $40,000 from her employer’s client. She then tries to run away and start a new life. While on her journey she checks herself into a remote motel run by a young man under the domination of his mother.

  1. You’re Next (2011)

If you love super intense and bloody movies, this will keep you at the end of your seat, and make you second guess any type of vacation ever again. “You’re Next” is about a family that is being attacked by mysterious masked killers while on vacation. Survival is key in this film. Do you think you could handle this?

  1. Child’s Play (1988)

This movie brought some of your childhood fears to life. Child’s Play is about how a little boy receives a toy doll as a gift from his mother. The child’s toy happens to possess the soul of a serial killer. Which of course goes on a killing spree.

  1. The Babadook (2014)

A single mother tries to help her son’s fear of a monster lurking around their house, but soon realizes it’s something more.

  1. The Sixth Sense (1999)

This movie is about a young boy that can communicate with spirits and receives help from a child psychologist. I’m not going to lie, this movie definitely freaked me out when I was younger.

Well that is my top 13 movies to watch on the thirteen nights before Halloween. I want to know what scary movies you would pick!
