Waka Flocka Flame Stands Up Against Racism, Cancels Show

A group of guys, dressed in tuxes, drunk, and trying to impress a group of girls. This seems like a pretty typical weekend for a lot of frat boys across America, but in Oklahoma it means the night’s going to end in racist songs about lynching. A video was leaked Sunday of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon chapter of Oklahoma University as they are all crowded on a passenger bus, dressed in formal attire, and all with dates, belting out some explicit lyrics. Thankfully, some of these girls weren’t impressed with the actions of the boys and posted video of their KKK hymn onto multiple social media outlets.

A rush of students and celebrities took to twitter Monday morning, including Waka Flocka Flame, who was to play a show for Oklahoma University and the SAE chapter just weeks from now. After announcing he has canceled the show, he posted the following on Instagram:

Waka Flocka and Oklahoma University have been swift in their actions in letting this group of boys and the public knows that they are not only upset, but disgusted with how they have acted. Something that has not been a trend in other recent allegations of racism. OU President David Boren released a statement Monday morning that included the punishment for their actions –

“Effective immediately, all ties and affiliations between the university and the local SAE chapter are hereby severed. I direct that the house be closed and that members will remove their personal belongings from the house by midnight tomorrow (Tuesday).”

You can read the full statement on his official Twitter account here. As of Tuesday afternoon two students leading the chant have been expelled, more could follow pending further investigation.

Waka Flakka Flame is wrapping up production of his new album “Flockaveli 2” and will drop it this June. Waka Flocka tweeted out last month that it will feature a couple of artists that we all recognize: JAY Z, KANYE WEST, LIL WAYNE, DRAKE, and 50 CENT.”
