WATCH | BARZ w/ DJ Erockalypze Episode 20: Ethan from SLC

Still feeling surreal as I type this.. BARZ has reached Episode 20.

Thank you to the last 20 Utah emcee’s for making memories with me. What started as something I have challenged myself with (to do my part and create with the community and not just for it) has become something so much more than I originally planned. I mention memories because that’s what every episode has been. It became a real way to connect with other Utah creatives and hear and see for myself what’s been growing. It also became a networking event (in the form of BARZ ON THE STREETZ) to help support one another.

The parts you don’t see is the excitement I see on the faces of local artists who walk through the doors (partially due to the adrenaline of what we’re about to do) but also it’s the same hospitality I give to every artist that has walked though those doors for an interview or freestyle… think of it as a real world “taste” of what they could be doing across the country in the future as they grow as artists. There’s a moment where we go through some beats I’ve selected to juggle (also based on me listening to their music before arrival) and then the artist selects their favorite. We do some recording level checks by vibing together on some practice freestyles. I ask some honest (and random) questions.. then I ask if we should go and we go for it.

But what I’m most proud of is that Utah has an ever-growing music community and moments like this prove it.

The amount of daily interaction I get from people wanting to get involved, find the next popup or just connect about their upcoming project or shows is bigger now than ever. But at the end of the day BARZ would only be an idea in my head without each and every one of you. Every person behind the scenes involved to help film and edit not for money.. but because we believe in doing cool sh*t with this place we’ve grown to love and call home. Thank you for sharing the same passion I do and so many here.

This round of emcee’s was equally as diverse in styles and had more votes than the last.. and it was Ethan that shined through with the winning votes on Instagram. You killed this homie. Since I yapped on about being in my feelings reaching 20 episodes I’ll spare my words here and let Ethan’s episode speak for itself.
