It’s been a 7 year wait for N.E.R.D. fans like me. Last time I saw them perform was when Rihanna and Kanye came with them to SLC nearly a decade ago.
Well, until one of the few epic perks of my job was to fly out to meet up with them at ComplexCon in Long Beach, CA. They did a crazy unique “live listening party” for everyone in attendance. In this business you meet so many people the excitement sometimes dulls (I sound like an a%$#!@#) but to me personally I consider Pharrell and Chad legends for the sound they carved out and dominated in the late 90’s to early 00’s as production powerhouse The Neptunes I was beyond grateful to meet them. Pharrell confirmed to me that Rihanna did in fact write her verses on “Lemon”. Lit.
As announced on their IG, NO_ONE EVER REALLY DIES drops December 15th. It’s a must pickup. There’s 2 Kendrick songs (with 1 of them featuring M.I.A.) and a crazy song with Future, among other gems. I heard a lot of punk-inspired tempo. Startrak forever.
