If you’re a producer, listen up, the Library of Congress has a new app called Citizen DJ, that allows you to take century-old Hip-Hop samples and make a remix out of them.
Created by Brian Foo, who’s been dubbed “innovator in residence,” the app let’s music makers take 80s and 90s Hip Hop sounds that were lost due to, “high profile lawsuits resulting in excessive restrictions on how audio could be sampled,” said Foo.
The Library of Congress has a ton of royalty-free music that can be sampled, however if the samples were longer and you could search by title it would make remixing the music a little easier, however the Citizen DJ app is still in the beta stage.
