As you probably already know, Nicki Minaj has dropped her lyrical video to her most recent song; “Only.” Although fans were hype about the song, they were furious about the video. People claim that Nicki has gone too far.
“Nicki Minaj’s new video disturbingly evokes Third Reich propaganda and constitutes a new low for pop culture’s exploitation of Nazi symbolism. The irony should be lost on no one that this video debuted on the 76th anniversary of Kristallnacht, the ‘Night of Broken Glass’ pogrom that signaled the beginning of the Final Solution and the Holocaust,” said Abraham H. Foxman, the national director of the Anti-Defamation League and a Holocaust survivor.
He also said that the video was “deeply disturbing and offensive” and that it “is insensitive to Holocaust survivors and a trivialization of that era.”
According to Vulture.com, the video which was made as a cartoon with the lyrics also includes Drake, Lil Wayne, and Chris Brown. Along with that it includes “SS-style armbands, gas masks, tanks, and Maus-style armies at attention.”
Although Nicki has remained silent on the video, the video’s director, Jeff Osborne has retweeted both positive and negative feedback for the video.
What is your opinion on the lyrical video? Has Nicki truly gone too far or is there no such thing?
