Utah Jazz NBA Power Rankings, Trade Deadline Rumors

The Utah Jazz have rattled off five straight wins, and seven of their last 10. They continue their road trip tonight against the New Orleans Pelicans and on Wednesday against the Memphis Grizzlies.

They currently sit in 10th place in the Western Conference, four games behind a playoff spot. With last week going extremely well for the Jazz where does ESPN have them in their NBA Power Rankings?

With the NBA trade deadline coming to a close, the Jazz could look a bit different heading into the final few months of the season.

According to Salt Lake Tribune’s Tony Jones, the Oklahoma City Thunder, Chicago Bulls and Detroit Pistons are all showing interest in acquiring Utah Jazz shooting guard Rodney Hood. Hood is averaging 16.4 points, 1.6 assists and 2.9 rebounds in just under 28 minutes per game. Also according to league sources, teams are showing interest in Jazz shooting guard Alec Burks. The problem is, teams are hesitant to take on his contract, which pays him through the end of next season.

Veteran swingman Joe Johnson might be the highest on the totem pole according to Marc Stein of the New York Times. Johnson is averaging 7.3 points and 3.4 rebounds in 22 minutes per game, largely coming off the bench. He’s appeared in 29 games in total, though a wrist injury early in the season cost him 21 games.

Regardless of what happens, it’ll be interesting to watch this team try and make a playoff push these next few months.
