A great cover happens when an artist takes a song and completely makes it their own – and if you can cross genre lines, even better!
This morning I came across a cover that does all the above. Mimi Knowles accompanied by The Best Funking Band released a soulful cover of Drake’s Hotline Bling. Musically, the cover offers the familiar melody we all know, but adds a perfect blend of funk. The trombone, trumpet and sax are a touch of class.
Mimi Knowles, originally from Poland Springs, ME, started writing music when he was 15 and has been making music professionally for the last 3 years. He’s currently located in Provo, UT where he has been performing with his backing band for the past 2 years.
