#NOMSAYIN with DJ Erockalypze: Food Truck Edition

So if you follow my IG or Snapchat, you already know I’m a foodie.

Yes, I’m the guy that posts his food online.. but only if it’s good enough 🙂 So I’m bringing back my food blog #NOMSAYIN, with this week’s being focused on one of my favorite new food trucks KOTAKO! Owned and operated by one of the creators of CUPBOP (Utah’s unofficial favorite Korean food truck, but their lines pretty much prove that theory) Kotako is a fusion of Korean and Mexican flavors and influence. If you’ve peeped either truck you know how much energy and fun they have as a team.

I prefer a simple menu over having a million choices (kind of like anyone who has a significant other and CAN’T decide what to eat for dinner..) and Kotako offers three main offerings –

The Kotako

The Korrito

The Kosadilla

..with different meat or veggie options. My homie and owner Spencer laced me up with a plate of one of each Kotako’s (chicken, beef, pork and veggie) and a chicken Kosadilla. They were already sold out of Korrito’s by the time I showed up to Food Truck Thursdays @ Gallivan. Not surprised, these guys always get crowd love!

If you’re not picky, I recommend having them do up your Kotako’s the way they intended. My personal favorites were definitely the beef and the veggie. Spencer knew how much of a meat eater I am and promised the veggie was bomb… he wasn’t lying. Amazing balance of salty, sweet and spicy. Generous toppings. Even the tortillas used are different than what you’d normally expect from a street taco. The Kosadilla was BIG and could easily be shared topped with a spicy korean style bbq sauce and sour cream to cool everything off.

Verdict? #NOMSAYIN APPROVED. Don’t be afraid to try Kotako. If you’re with little ones, have them share a Kosadilla. The staff are full of energy, embrace it. It’s part of the whole experience. Follow Kotako on Instagram and Facebook for an updated schedule of where you can find them. Shout out to Spencer and the whole crew for always showin’ love to the UCrew. SUPPORT LOCAL! Hashtag your favorite Utah eats with #nomsayin on your own socials so I can check ’em out and post about ’em!
