Tuesday, July 7th is Blackout Day.
The economic protest is described on its website as “(a) day of solidarity in America where not one Black person in America spends a dollar outside of businesses owned by Black people.”
According to USA Today, some are also encouraging patronage of Latino-owned businesses as well.
The day is getting attention due to the continued protests and pressure from people on the issues of racism, social justice, and equality.
The initiative comes in the wake of protests against police brutality and renewed attention to the nation's decades-long racial wealth gap.https://t.co/EFYi5XScJ2
