Wakanda Forever
It seems as though every time I Google “Black Panther” the first thing I see is “breaks another record,” or something like that. Today (March 20th) for example, this is what I saw, “Black Panther is the most tweeted-about movie of all time.” Yup, the film has inspired more than 35 million tweets.

That is just one of the many records it has broken during its fifth week at the box office. Here’s a look at the history Black Panther has made since it hit theaters, so far.
First Film Since Avatar to Top Weekend Box Office Five Straight Times
With $27 million earned in its fifth week, Black Panther stayed at the No. 1 spot.
Largest Opening Weekend For a Black Director
With a monstrous $242.1 million at the box office President’s Day weekend.
Highest-Grossing First Week of Any Marvel Film
The Avengers earned $300 million during its first nine days. Black Panther raked in $520 million during its first week.

Top-Grossing Opening Weekend for a Film With a Predominately Black Cast
Black Panther beat out classics like Bad Boys and Coming to America, and knocked out recent successful films like Get Out and Straight Outta Compton. The film succeeded where other films with predominately black casts failed: overseas.

Biggest February Opening of All Time
It made sense that Marvel released Black Panther during Black History Month. The film destroyed the records Deadpool shattered in 2016.
Largest Ticket Presale for a Marvel Film
Well, not anymore actually. Avengers: Infinity War surpassed this record already, which isn’t surprising. That movie hits theaters April 27th.
Who knows what other records it will continue to break. Until then we can sit back, relax, and watch the movie for the 3rd, 4th, or 5th plus time.
