Say it ain’t so! After begging for 2 years to go back to “newest posts first” the Instagram Gods have finally answered our prayers…kinda.
In a press release today, Instagram revealed that the company is making two new exciting changes to its algorithm: a “new posts” option, and something that sounds a lot like taking steps toward a chronological feed!
Instagram’s VP of Product tweeted about the changes, explaining that the first step in their changes on the app is putting, “newer posts closer to the top.”

We’re working every day to improve your Instagram feed—with your feedback top of mind! We want to start talking more about what we’re changing and why. Today is our first step, focused on making the feed fresher, with newer posts closer to the top. https://t.co/EqoBiszIde

He did mention, going back to full chronological order isn’t a good idea though. He stated that if someone you’re close to posts in the morning, and you don’t check til night, you’ll most likely miss the post. They’re trying to find a happy medium, but this is the start!
