Veteran Celebrates Decade-Plus Club
Chris Wingert played 10 seasons with the claret and cobalt, and for the final time in his career he stood at midfield at Rio Tinto Stadium like he had done countless times, but this time to officially retire.
Wingert was honored at halftime and accepted a plaque honoring his lengthy career with the 2009 MLS Cup champions.
Following a video tribute and a standing ovation from the announced crowd of 16,334, Wingert exited the pitch one last time.
KSL Sports put together a highlight video from the snowy match and reflected on the career Wingert had.
Wingert is one of five players (Kyle Beckerman, Nick Rimando, Tony Beltran, and Javier Morales) who form the “decade-plus” club at RSL and will forever be a legend.
