Samsung Phones Are Sending Photos to Random Contacts Without Users Permission

Uh-Oh…

Some Samsung users are complaining that their smartphones randomly sent photos to contacts. Users say, Samsung Messages, the default texting app for Galaxy devices, pushed photos to random contacts, but left no record of the messages being sent. Users left their complaints on Reddit and the official Samsung forums, which included owners of late model devices such as the Galaxy Note 8 and Galaxy S9.

According to user reports, the problem stems from Samsung Messages, which (for reasons that haven’t been determined), is erroneously sending pictures stored on the devices to random contacts. One user on Reddit even claims that instead of sending one pic, Samsung Messages sent out their entire photo gallery to a contact in the middle of the night. Luckily for that person (or maybe not), those pictures were sent to their partner. But imagine any random pic(s) from your phone getting sent to a co-worker, boss, church buddy or even a parent. That would be embarrassing, at least in my opinion.

The best option is to switch to a different texting app and in the meantime hope that this issue gets resolved quickly because until it does, there’s no guarantee of privacy.
