Before Snoop Dogg’s rise to rap stardom, he harbored dreams of joining the Air Force. This world-renowned artist from the West Coast unveiled his previously hidden desire to serve his nation, a tale he shared on Memorial Day to honor those in uniform.

In a surprising revelation, Snoop Dogg confessed that in his senior year of high school in 1989, he and a group of friends considered enlisting in the Air Force. They even took steps towards this ambition by visiting an Air Force recruitment center, only for the rapper to eventually decide against signing up.

The military ties in Snoop Dogg’s family traced back to his father, Vernell Varnado, a Vietnam War veteran. After surviving four bullet wounds in combat, Varnado was awarded the Purple Heart, a prestigious military honor.
