Regina King reveals she’s changed her vow to hire 50% women in films – Insider

WHO RUN THE WORLD, GIRLS!

At the Golden Globe awards in 2019, Regina King vowed that her future projects produced by her would include 50% women.  In a recent interview about upcoming movie “One Night in Miami”, directed by King, she was asked about her pledge to employee 50% women.  King stated “No, we weren’t able to accomplish it, but we definitely tried.” She also went on to say “What we were able to accomplish was that well over 50% of our crew were people that did not identify as cis white male(s)”.   The actress explained that her view about male/female roles have evolved and that she still feels women in positions behind the camera are important.
