Sad news comes on the week we celebrate our loving mothers of the world. Tupac’s mother, Afeni Shakur has died at the age of 69. Ms. Shakur, born Alice Faye Williams was confirmed deceased by the Marin County Sheriff’s Office early Tuesday morning (5/3/2016).
Tupac stamped the love for his mother in the song titled “Dear Mama” from the 1995 album, ‘Me Against The World’.
Marin County deputies responded to the home of Ms. Shakur after a possible cardiac arrest. She died shortly after arriving to the hospital at 10:30 pm Monday night.
Afeni Shakur changed her name from Alice Faye Williams shortly after moving from New York and joining the Black Panthers. Her and others were arrested and charged in 1969 with conspiracy to bomb different city landmarks. Ms. Shakur was pregnant with Tupac while incarcerated. One month after being acquitted of all charges, she gave birth to Tupac.
Thank you for all the dedicated years of hard work towards the youth of the world through the Tupac Amaru Foundation.
