Jay-Z, Meek Mill, Killer Mike & More Pushing To Ban Rap Lyrics Being Used in Court

Jay-Z, Meek Mill and more artists are putting their energy behind a proposed New York State law

The law would block lyrics from being used during trials. The bill aims to limit the admissibility of a defendant’s music as evidence shown during a criminal trial. A draft of the legislation states prosecutors would be required to provide, clear and convincing evidence that a defendant’s creative work is literal, rather than figurative or fictional.

Do you think the bill will pass?
