In an interview with GQ Lil Nas X discussed the features of his “Montero” album.
“I don’t usually ask for features like that. But for every feature I did ask for on this album, like, every single one of them worked…besides Drake and Nicki [Minaj],” Nas says. Lil Nas X wanted Nicki Minaj on “Industry Baby” and Drake for “Dolla Sign Slime” but he seems to be taking it all in stride as he believes everything happens for a reason. “Yeah, but you know, I feel like things always work out,” says Nas X. “I’m not sure how comfortable Nicki would have felt with that video or whatnot.” Lil Nas X denied being a Nicki Minaj superfan otherwise known as a “Barb” before he came out, so maybe Nicki is keeping the same energy.
