Soulja Boy Faces $73.6M Civil Suit Over Assault and Rape Allegations

Crank That Gavel: Soulja Boy’s Legal Whiplash

Soulja Boy, once the architect of internet virality with “Crank That,” is now at the center of a high-stakes legal showdown. A civil trial in Los Angeles is weighing explosive accusations from a woman who claims the rapper, born DeAndre Cortez Way, raped and assaulted her during her time as his personal assistant.

The plaintiff, who remains anonymous, is seeking $73.6 million in damages. Her legal team argues that the sum reflects not only physical injuries and emotional trauma, but also unpaid wages and long-term psychological harm endured during years of alleged abuse dating back to 2018.

From Bops to Brutality? Allegations Shake the Image

According to the lawsuit, the woman endured a pattern of escalating violence while working for Soulja Boy, including instances where she was allegedly punched unconscious, held against her will for days, and deprived of basic necessities like food and water. The case also includes messages attributed to the rapper that convey explicit threats and disturbing sentiments.

Her attorney painted a picture of manipulation and fear, describing how her client was trapped not just physically, but emotionally, by an abuser who cycled between charm and cruelty. As the trial neared its conclusion, he urged the jury to consider the gravity of the alleged assaults—not just in physical terms, but the psychological toll left in their wake.

Soulja Says: Not Guilty, Not Buying It

Soulja Boy has denied all allegations. His attorney characterized the damage claims as overblown and lacking credible evidence. The defense has attempted to cast doubt on the plaintiff’s narrative, citing inconsistencies and questioning her motivations for staying in the situation as long as she did.

The trial, which has stretched nearly a month, has revealed intimate and at times disturbing messages exchanged between the two—some of which the defense claims were taken out of context.

From Rap Sheets to Legal Sheets

A jury will soon decide whether the woman’s accusations hold weight in a court of law—and if so, how much the artist should pay for the damage she says she suffered. Regardless of the verdict, the case has already cast a long shadow over Soulja Boy’s legacy.
